Banks That Accept ITINs For Non-U.S. Citizens

Bank of America

Bank of America does allow for a bank account to be opened without a Social Security Number. But, you will have to provide multiple forms of identification.

The bank will also need proof of residency within the United States. Keep in mind with Bank of America, they do require you to open accounts in person, there is no remote option.

Chase

Similar to Bank of America they accept ITINs and also need proof of address in the US along with another document of identification.

Citibank

Citibank accepts ITINs to open bank accounts. However, as with Bank of America, you won’t be able to do your application online without being a U.S. Citizen.

Instead, you’ll have to go to a branch where you should be prepared to show two forms of identification and proof of a US residence.

Wells Fargo

With your ITIN once you have a solid credit card history you can then apply for other financial and banking services at Wells Fargo. However with Wells Fargo, you will need to go into a branch and show your documents, then the process is pretty straightforward to open an account.

What to do next

Opening a US bank account with an ITIN is a relatively easy process if you verify your identity and show proof of a US address. There are many options, and many smaller banks aren’t very vocal about accepting ITINs.

The process of opening your first US checking account doesn’t need to be filled with stress or worry. Jumpstart can help guide you through the process, making it as easy and efficient as possible.
